Shell & Tube Heat Exchanger Rental Solution for Houston Chemical Plant
The heat of a recent summer negatively impacted a major Houston area chemical plant’s wastewater processing. Units in the plant were forced to cut production rates, emergency temporary tanks were installed to hold a portion of the wastewater, and wastewater treatment decreased processing rates. The plant’s wastewater was a few degrees higher than normal which was causing the processing limitation. ERS-CAT designed and configured a wastewater cooling setup which consisted of two large shell and tube heat exchangers, two cooling towers, and the required pumps. This cooling setup returned the wastewater temp to normal operating temperatures, unit’s brought production rates back to normal, and the emergency water storage setups were worked down. Overall, the rental cooling setup project was very successful and now gets installed by ERS-CAT before every summer.
